  • Overview and Responsibilities

     

    The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative support of the Human Resources Department in all functional areas of human resources including benefit administration, employee recognition, employment process, human resources audits, and filing system.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     

    • Benefits administration: eligibility tracking, distributing forms, enrollment processing, billing reconciliation, dependant changes, cancellations, (Kaiser, Carefirst, Assurant, Hotel Association, 401K, FSA) – initiation of PAF for Ultipro updates, COBRA preparation and tracking of employee payment
    • Administration of doctor's notes - coordination with managers and filing
    • Administration of Birthday/Anniversary calendars for Human Resources office
    • Coordination of FMLA approval and extension process, FMLA balance tracking, processing short-term disability claims – initiating PAF to stop accruals of vacation/sick; tracking of employee payment
    • Administration of EOM/MOQ program by sending MEMOs, e-mail notifications, invitations, ordering winner's gift card, ordering plaque and brass star paperweight from G-Niel, and preparing summary of nominations for the ceremony
    • Weekly Cafeteria Menu Slideshow
    • Post new open positions in Employee cafeteria and outside of HR
    • Administration of workers compensation - coordination among managers, employees, St.Paul and BF Saul (time tracking; coordinating information for modified duty)
    • Administration of time and a third for Local 25 employees
    • Administration of employment eligibility (I-9) by sending notifications about expiring documents
    • Receiving and processing employee requests (employment verification, payroll questions, benefit inquires)
    • 1st step review of resumes submitted by candidates for minimum qualifications for hourly positions
    • First day orientation of all new employees
    • Posting job vacancies as assigned by Human Resources Director
    • Other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Director

     

     

     

    Qualifications

     

     

    No Supervisory Responsibilities

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

     

    Education and Experience

    Bachelor degree and one year of human resources experience preferred or, a combination of two-year college coursework and two years of experience in human resources field.

     

    Language Skills

    Bi-lingual fluency a plus.

     

    Mathematical Skills

    Must have basic mathematical skills such as the ability to add/subtract and multiply.

     

    Reasoning Ability

    Must have excellent oral/written communication skills. Ability to handle employee and management requests in a calm and professional manner.

     

    Physical Ability

    Ability to sit and use a computer for long periods of time. Able to lift 10-20 lbs.
