Overview and Responsibilities

The House Person is responsible for the set up and breakdown of function rooms. Must maintain the cleanliness of all of the hotel’s Banquet space as well as providing support to the Servers and the Banquet department in general.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Set up and breakdown of function rooms including tables, chairs, linens, napkins, bars, dance floors, podiums and other furniture according to BEO or manager’s direction.  
  2. Retrieve all food related menu items to appropriate service area according to the agreed upon timeline. Assist server with all aspects of service as required.  
  3. Return all dirty dishes, silver, glassware and serving pieces to the dishwashing area in kitchens. Retrieve back up of these items if necessary.  
  4. Clean and maintain all Banquet areas, equipment, storage closets, and floors in both guest and back of house areas. Clean all spills and breakage immediately. Cleans equipment such as coffee brewers, high chairs and other departmental operating equipment.
  5. Transport waste and dirty linens to their appropriate areas. Restock linens, napkins and operating supplies as needed. Complete all side duties as assigned.  
  6. Set meeting tables and refresh rooms as necessary. This may include polishing glasses, refilling water pitchers, collecting print materials and other guest requests as specified.
  7. Ensure plants and flowers are placed appropriately or discarded of properly. Report any maintenance needs to the Banquet Manager.  
  8. Report any maintenance needs to the Banquet Manager. Assist with inventory processes.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty to a satisfactory standard. Education:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Basic Expectations:  Ability to perform duties as assigned with minimal supervision. Must work cohesively with other departments and co-workers as part of a team. Must be able to work under stress and deadlines.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Language Skills:  Must have the ability to understand, speak, read and write basic English. Must have the ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write and communicate effectively with other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:  Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions.

Physical Ability:  To complete the duties of the job, the employee will be required to reach with hands and arms and often stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. There will be frequent walking and standing involved. The person will be required to lift or move weights ranging up to 50 pounds.
